Tumblr’s new ban on NSFW content is working really well! Several historical blogs that I follow have been flagged as inappropriate for posting photos of Classical nude sculptures and paintings which are on public display in museums worldwide, and I’ve only been followed and reblogged by 5 porn blogs today! What a successful implementation of a totally useful and not at all spurious ban!
This chilling message was left on the fence of Rose Neary’s home five days after her murder. The kind-hearted woman was found murdered in her apartment on June 2nd, 1939. She had been beaten with a hammer, and then strangled with cords that were cut from her kitchen radio. Around 5:00 PM on that fateful day a doorbell rang. The neighbor living in the flat below Rose Neary heard it, followed by the voice of a man saying, “Gas man!” Later that evening Neary was expected to make an appearance at the Washington Boulevard Temple of the B'nai Abraham Zion, where she was a long-time and active member. It was the 75th annual jubilee celebration; an event that the devout woman helped plan and had no intention of missing. When Neary failed to show, members of her congregation went to her apartment to check in on her. This is when her body was found. Rose was already dressed in her best church clothes when she was killed.
The fifty-year-old victim lived alone, and was considered to be very well off. Rose Neary was well known for her generosity. Often she would loan money to friends down on their luck. Investigators believed that this well intentioned trait lead to her gruesome end. This lead them to their first prime suspect; Edward Donovan. Donovan , aged thirty-eight, worked as a driver and often drove Ms. Neary around. Over time the two became close. They would attend social events together, and were thought to be a couple. Neary loaned him up to $2,000 throughout their relationship. What she didn’t know was that Donovan was a married man with the family. Investigators believed that Donovan may have murdered her to keep his secret, or to avoid returning his substantial debt. However, after hours of interrogation authorities released him without any charges.
This was closest investigators came to closing the case. After Edward Donovan there would be no other suspects. Rose Neary’s killer, as well as the author of the note left on her fence, could not be identified. As of October, 2018 the case remains unsolved.

To say that Brittney Beers, 6, from Sturgis, Michigan, lived a tragic life is an understatement.
At 3-years-old, she was molested by her half-brotherβs father. Neighbours often saw her roaming the streets alone; her mother locked her outside when she was βbad.β And then one day, she disappeared.
Some like to speculate she was abducted and given to a family who would care for her.
It may have looked like a scene out of a dream, but, for one day last year, a town in Central America was covered in 8 million flower petals. While the rain of petals over Costa Rica was all part of a shoot for a Sony advertising campaign, the beautiful display stood out in its own right for the explosion of color.
The idea was to cover the area near the Irazú Volcano — located in central Costa Rica — with a flower petal for every pixel in Sony’s 4K Ultra HD TV. With the help of local residents, the team collected the most vibrant and colorful flower petals they could find in the region. In all, it took them more than two weeks to pick the 3.5 tons of petals used to flood the streets with color, according to behind-the-scenes coverage posted by Sony UK. (Source)
